The DLTC offers part-time English language courses in the evenings to prepare students for the IELTS exam. The courses are 2 nights per week for 9 weeks (Tuesday and Thursday 19:15-21:45).
Students can study for the exams at the DLTC and then apply to sit the exam at University College Dublin which administers IELTS exams in Dublin. For more information on exams, timetables, and exam fees, see UCD Applied Language Centre Examinations - IELTS. The DLTC is happy to apply to UCD on your behalf.
The classes cover the four IELTS skills: Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing. While there is no specific grammar component to an IELTS exam, students are expected to use the grammar properly in context so some English grammar is also covered in these classes.
The courses prepare for the Academic IELTS exam format.
A good level of English is required to prepare for the IELTS so students you will have to successfully complete a level test to attend these courses. The level required to attend is a good Upper-Intermediate to Advanced level.
Maximum class size is 11 students per class although the average is often only 7 students per class.
Additional homework may be provided for students to complete.
Classes include a short break when coffee, tea and soft-drinks are available.
New courses starting from 05th October 2010 and will be completed in time for the December 11th IELTS exam.
Each week this course covers core IELTS exam skills, focusing on how to do the exam and the language and skills required. Students must already have sufficient general English skills (grammar etc) to an upper-intermediate / advanced level.
No registration fees and no booking fees!!
UCD charge 185euro for exam registration. You can apply directly to them or through the DLTC office (15euro extra).
A coursebook may be required and costs about 30euros extra.
There is no discount, reduction, or refund for arriving to a course late or finishing early.
Students must successfully complete a level test before entering IELTS courses (good Upper-Intermediate to Advanced level required)
